Less than a year after its creation, the social trading platform and network Shares has raised €34 million in a record Series A round. This financing round was led by NY-based VC Valar Ventures LLC, with Singular, Rocket Capital and Global Founders Capital also participating in the fundraising. The announcement of this financing round, which was finalised last December, coincides with the launch of the platform in the UK. The fintech has just completed a test phase with 60,000 users who can buy shares of listed US companies. Soon enough, they will also be able to trade European shares and ETFs as well as cryptocurrencies.
To support this rapid development, the fintech is expected to grow to a staff of 250 by the end of the year. The legal, tax and social due diligence of this transaction were carried out by Raphaelle d’Ornano and her team. It was an honour to be involved in such a historic funding round – the highest Series A in France to date.
